Sony XAV60 This radio has all the features I need. The sound quality is very good. The only thing I really don't like is that it is slow to execute commands. Other than that I am satisfied with my purchase.
painfully slow This Sony does everything it says. Its a fine tuner and plays and displays just about anything that spins or mp3 feeds and drives oem speakers no problem. Howeverdon't be fooled the touch screen response time menu navigation and access times are dangerously slow. Too slow for incar use. Just changing a radio station or navigating a menu can take 5 seconds to detect and respond. The backup camera turn on response is slow as well as the overall system boot at startup. This is the Commodore 64 of touch screen do everything systems. I would only recommend to someone with a full time navigator who has spare time to wait for this thing. Good luck.
Great Sound Video SoSo UserInterface I've had this unit installed in my Toyota Prius for almost a year now so have plenty of experience with its pros and cons. I purchased the unit from Amazon then I had the unit professionally installed. I added a steering wheel control kit and an XM radio adapter to the basic unit.On the Pro sideGreat sound quality. The difference between this Sony and the stock radio is night and day. You will not be disappointed in this device as a stereo receiver!Great Video quality. This display is twice the vertical resolution of most AV receivers and you can easily tell the difference whether when viewing album art or viewing a DVD. For DVD's the quality is perfect since the display effectively matches a DVD's native 480p resolution.Simple to use remotecontrol. While the steering wheel controls are nice for volume control and moving up or down stations if you want to do anything else like switching presets your choice is the touch screen interface or the remote. The touch screen is fairly slow see Cons. The remote however offers an easytouse method of switching presets that can be done without taking your eyes off the road keep the remote accessible in a cup holder.Solid MP3 player. The MP3 player has no problems playing whatever format you put on your USB stick or ITouch I've used both and does a nice job of displaying the tag information and image attachments that are part of most MP3 files. There is a lag at startup while the system loads up the data from your stick but this seems to be a flaw common to most receivers I've seen reviewed. One thing to note is that the USB interface is on the back so you have to have a cable extender added a brought out through the dash when you get the system installed.OK XM interface. I commute 1hr each way so utilize the XM radio almost exclusively can't take the incessant commercials otherwise! The XMinterface is adequate as long as you program sufficient presets at reasonable intervals to allow you to get to any channel quickly as there is no random access of the 200 or so channels available. Sound quality is good but there is no audio buffering that I can tell as opposed to my factorystock XM on my Audi for instance so dropouts are fairly commonplace as you drive past buildings and overpasses.ConsSlow and Clunky User interface. As others have mentioned the user interface is awful slow and not intuitive at all especially if you're used to the smooth iTouch interfaces. For example there is no scrolling of MP3 songs only a pagebypage selection which does not respond instantly. Also the songs are sorted in a fixed method alphabetically by song title.
Slow simple not ergonomic I'm not happy about the delay between songs connected via a usb stick. random is the same 10 songs forever. will update more but keep expectations low when purchasing.

XAV 60 Like everyone else here I love the display of the XAV60 and think the controls are slow but I can live with that. I just simplified my ipod playlists to make it easier. I do wonder why when playing Sirius through this headunit it only displays 8 characters. With such a great display this seems silly. I'm waiting for ROM updates from Sony.
Sony XAV60 Well this a nice unit. Its flashy with some eye candy. Sound is much nicer and more solid. RDS feature in radio is cool.. It shows name and artist for just Radio. Even when you goto the presets before you select a station they say the name of the song before you even select it. Reads wav file and mp3s from a thumb drive. Oh and one of the best screens Ive seen. Very nice.You will need to buy trim plates to give it a good finish. But over I like it very much.. Worth the money forsure.. Oh and just ground the parking brake and your good to go with no switch.
Very Nice Touchscreen DVD/CD/MP3 System I ordered this for my son and he had it professionally installed today. He has a 2003 Nissan Frontier Pick up Truck and after determining whether it would fit his vehicle he finally decided to go with the Sony XAV60 instead of the Kenwood DDX616. He decided he didn't need bluetooth and the Sony had all the features he was looking for minus the bluetooth. We priced and priced these things and finally came back to Amazon because you just can't hardly beat their prices. Other vendors were charging a lot more for the same product. The sound quality is excellent and the dvd player is great. My son is very pleased and there were no problems having this item installed.82310Just a few days after installation the screen started coming up solid white off and on and the sound quit playing. I am returning this player for a refund. He and I both are disappointed as I have never had to return anything to Amazon before.92310Instead of getting a refund we opted for a new one. Amazon shipped a new one immediately and everything is great with this new one so far.

Fantastic I installed this into a 2007 Toyota Tacoma using a harness from Amazon and a trim kit also from Amazon. The entire thing went together perfectly the first time!I run video up to an overhead flipdown player and that works perfectly as well. I also installed a backup camera. The image is great it goes into the image quickly and has hash marks to show approximately how far you are from objects.I also have the RC200IPV cable and use my iPhone to play videos for my kids. Works great fast browsing of content and plays anything your iPhone/iPod will play video or audio. The stock USB cable will only play audio you need the extra cable for the video hookup and the video goes into the back of the unit so keep that in mind when installing.My parts list for a complete install of the head unitSCOSCHE TA02B Wiring Harness for 1987 and up ToyotaScosche 010TA2053B 2005UpToyota Tacoma Double DIN Kit Color Matched SilverSony RC200IPV iPod cable for XAV60 and XAV70BT AVCIf you are just doing the head unit this is all you need for a Tacoma no wire taps no tape nothing else.Be sure to solder the harness and use shrink wrap it will provide a lifetime of hassle free operation.
