Boss should be out of business, Title says it all. I have been through 3 Boss DVD stereos and I hate them all. The interface is the worst part. If you don't mind having a crappy stereo that does not have many functions and has an interface that looks like a diaper put it together, then this is for you! Otherwise, don't buy this. But I will say that I got a good laugh out of the awful "Engrish" that the instructions were written in.
The only good part was that the Bluetooth was easy to use.
I was told not to use Boss..., but I didn't listen.
This radio has four massive problems.
1. OFF? The unit stays on. Sometimes. If I turn off the key, the radio unit may or may not turn off. This seems to be tied to whether or not a Bluetooth device is linked. Since it drained my car battery, I'm listing it.
2. DISCS: It sucked in a DVD and didn't play it. I was able to get it out (manually, as eject did nothing but 'whirr') thinking that the problem was that it was a DVD. I tried a CD - it sucked it in further so that I was not able to retrieve it.
3. SCREEN: The 'motorized' screen is necessary to the operation of the unit as the whole screen moves out of the way to get to the disk slot. However, I could not get the screen to return once it had moved out of the way.
4. MUTE button - this button mutes the unit. For 5 seconds. At which point in time the volume returns LOUDER than it was before.
Beyond that, the unit sortof worked.
The good news is that once I bought the correct universal harness from a local Best Buy, the unit was pretty easy to install.
The rear camera input worked perfect. Every time I put it in reverse, the unit switched to the rear camera and kept the audio going. Unless the unit was powered off. So, I had to turn on the radio if I wanted to see the reverse camera. Not completely perfect.
The iPod controls connected to my iPhone 3GS over the provided cable. It charged my iPhone. It also caused my iPhone to display the message about switching to airplane mode. It played music over that cable. I could not get it to display a video even though there were controls indicating it could do so.
The video quality seemed lacking, but as the only input I tested it with was the backup camera, this is possibly the camera's fault.
The UI was atrocious.
Boss BV9565BI, The Boss BV9565BI In-Dash Double-DIN 7" DVD/MP3/CD Touchpanel Widescreen Receiver with USB, SD Card, Bluetooth and Front Panel AUX Input is a very good radio for the price. I'm happy with this radio. nothing to complain.
After a year and a half, Buy the radio in May 2010, install the radio in my car and everything worked fine until the last week of January 2011 week in which the screen burn.
Radio use no more than an hour a day.

You get what you pay for., You get what you pay for with this dvd reciever. In my experience, it does everything it claims to, but not very well and not very easily. The bluetooth function works ok as a hands-free device. I have installed a backup camera and it works well. I have had no problems loading or unloading dvd's and/or cd's. The menu's are absolutely horrible and there are a bunch of functions that can only be accessed with the remote control. The user manual that comes with the unit is a joke.
As advertised is does have Ipod control onscreen, but it is barebones at most. It brings up a screen that sort-of looks like the ipod screen and allows you to choose artist, album, genre, etc.... It starts at the beginning of the alphabet, but won't let you scroll backwards through it so it takes forever to get to the later artists. You can only play one album from an artist at a time and it will not automatically go to the next album when the first is done playing. It takes you back to the screen to choose an artist, album, genre, etc... thus making you go through the lengthy process of scrolling back down to the artist and manually choosing the next album.
The USB input is ok. I have a 16 gb flash drive with music and movies on it and it plays both the music and video just fine. Again, the user controls leave a lot to be desired, but overall it does what it says it will.
Another negative is that it seems that the unit is slightly larger than the typical double din unit. I have purchased two different install kits and have found that the unit is slightly to large to fit in the install kit. I had to take my dremel and open up the hole in the install kit in order to make it fit. This leaves the install looking less than professional. I have installed many many different car stereos and have never come up against this problem before now.
I had never purchased anything from Boss Audio before and thought I would take a chance on this unit since it had all the features I wanted at less than half the price of name brand units, but now I wish I had waited and saved enough to purchase a nicer unit.
Overall, if you have the money it is definately worth it to go with a nicer name brand unit.
Very bad product, The Boss player is a dissappointment. The CD slot would not take the CD. It just would not function.
P.O.S., How the heck are you suppose to use this thing? the manual is usleless at best. the interface is garbage and the size is outrageous. at present i am at a loss at changing folders to play different mp3's. When playing a DVD, hope you like searching for your last stop point. cuz the thing starts over from the begin.
Whats the deal with the TF and AF feature? I know what it reads in the not at all helpful manual. the radio bar is so high up on the screen you cant't see what station your on ...where the [...] is the clock display...should i just feel around until I hopefully find it???
As I have already modified my din (dremeled it to fit) to accomodate this behemonth i can't exchnge it and not leave a very noticeable HOLE!
So far the few good things are...Sounds really good till the tf crap appears...oh yeah turn your volume down if you are gonna use the bluetooth feature...
Great for the price., Bought the Boss BV9565BI for my 2005 Galant. Had to hook up the "Brake" wire to the "Ground" wire on the body chasis. Works great. Not top of the line picture, but can't beat it for the cost.
full of features, but like an old computer, I usually don't give bad review, but this one requires one...
1. It states it has an AUX Input on Front panel...NOT
2. It constantly freezes when we use the IPOD interface...
3. The volume button on the touch screen gets stuck...I will turn it up to about 18 then it just goes back to 0
4. Every other day, I have to reprogram my stations into the memory.
5. It does not charge your ipod and when you turn off your car it it lets your ipod keep playing.
6. When it gets stuck while playing a video, it gets stuck on pause and when i play, it automatically pauses again.
The features are good when they work...don't mind it looking generic...I've been wanting to replace it, but don't want to redo the wiring harness all over again. Oh yeah, had a review camera hooked up and it worked well.
Only reason I gave it 2 stars is to be fair, cause when it works it is good, but it messes up so bad at time...
