Alpine iNA-W900 All-in-one Navigation/Audio/Video System - INAW900 Nice job Alpine Installed into my 2003 Chevy Avalanche w/Bose no onstar. I initially tried to install my self along with the Alpine backup camera HCEC105 but no luck. I purchased the GMS04 harness from Fry's which turns out is the wrong kit. Dumb sales guy at Fry's swore it was the right one. Long story short I took it to Best Buy and let them finish the install. Any wayPro'sSounds GreatLove the fast boot upIpod connect is on pointBT quality is niceHas built in AMP on/off control. I love this. I had 2 10 MTX speaker/amp with remote switch under dash. This unit allowed me to remove the remote switch.ConsDoesn't display song info when on radio. My factory unit did. Guess I'll have to spring for the HD radio unit.GPS is cool but I haven't figured out how to shut it up once you dont need it anymore. Still working on that.Would have been nice if IPOD/CD/DVD touch screen controls were the hard buttons and the current hard buttons on/off source nav audio were on the touch screen. No biggie though.
Love this product! I mainly use this for phone and iphone use not for navigation which still seems a little weak when compared to my iphone maps. I pretty much don't use navigation at all on this as it doesn't include traffic data and it would be nice if there was some sort of firmware update capability on this to be able to get traffic or other new functionality as it comes out.
Very nice unit with a catch If you know Alpine products then you know that their quality level is always superb. This unit is no exception. I installed it in my wife's FJ Cruiser with only one snag see below using the Scosche doubleDIN kit. Sound quality is excellent as to be expected from Alpine. Frankly I was a bit shocked at how much power this thing was cranking out over what I had *thought* was a pretty anemic stock speaker setup. The GPS navigation is excellent. The maps very accurate which got me home last week during a bad snow storm by way of back roads when the mains were taking an hour to move 1/4 mile literally. The variety of map views is very helpful as well for example sometimes you want the map always keeping North to the top sometimes you want it to rotate so that the top is always what is ahead of you. The 3D view is interesting but I don't find myself using it all that much.iPod integration is strong but not perfect.
Alpine INAW900 BT I believe I'm an average consumer with electronics. I can't tell you about ohms or the unique issues installing because I had my professionally installed. I always love Alpine and was surprised to find that this was actually a better buy than other 'less cool' brands. It had the most bells & whistles which also means you really need to read the manual or get a first rate walk through. The units Bluetooth rocks and everyone says I sound very clear. This is great as I drive a big SUV with a loud exhaust note. . On a few rare occasions the phone did not pair when I got in the vehicle but truly a minor issue. I have the Alpine backup camera Running XM and using the iPod all flawless in my opinion.Nav works great no complaints. Haven't played a DVD and have no clue how to reset the clock where is that manual?.If you are looking for a great unit that pumps out some extra power at the same time I would absolutely recommend this unit. Looks great in a high end luxury car or a beat up pickup. Enjoy.
Nice HU Everything you could want in a double DIN. I am a big fan of the Imprint system and have used it with the 9887. Even better being able to store two curves with the H100. Screen is very nice and BT works well also. Have not had much time with the NAV so not much to comment there but it does look to be a good set up. Make sure to get the Metra kit for this DD. They always look the most factory.
Very good unit great price on Amazon First I had to manage to distinguish between all the various model #s on Amazon and determine which was which no small feat. ANYWAY I didn't feel the need to pay hundreds more for the privilege to buy it from an authorized Alpine dealer nor did I feel a burning desire to pay ANOTHER hundred or two more for the absolutely newest model this one is the previous iteration. From what I can tell the major difference being that the Bluetooth unit is separate but included in the old one whereas in the new one it's built INTO the head unit itself. I wasn't ABOUT to attempt to install this bear myself anyway so that was fairly irrelevant.I think the interface is surprisingly intuitive considering my previous experiences with Alpine's counterintuitive iPod interface head units I haven't had to read the manual yet! One of the goals always. Ha ha. I'm very satisfied and being a professional musician with an ear I am also pleasantly surprised/satisfied with the audio controls. Being finicky I always want more but this unit is more about versatility so I'm OK with the somewhat limited audio controls and by limited I mean for the more persnickety listener.Overall a very good unit intuitive well laidout etc. I'm pleased for the price I paid on Amazon vs. via an authorized dealer.
Veyr good but not perfect! I replaced a Panasonic Strada now discontinued with this Alpine headunit. I installed this with the PAC SWIJACK steering wheel remote interface which is not working right I have to try programming it again the PAC TR7 Universal Trigger Module Do not try to install an Alpine navvy without one! the Alpine HCEC107D rear view camera Sirius SCC1 tuner Alpine KCASC100 Sirius Interface Module and Axxess GMOS04 Class II OnStar® Interface for amplified systems.
Alpine W900 Overall for the price I'm somewhat disappointed in this unit. The sound quality is excellent the GPS is pretty good and so far it's been reliable however there are some things that aren't very well thought out.Cons No volume adjustment or input changing as it boots up. If you happen to have the volume up when you shut your car off you'll get blasted at start up while the unit is booting. It takes about 510 secs for the unit to boot during which time the volume is set where it was when you shut it off and you have to listen to whatever that was on when shut off. Not good if the last person in the vehicle was cranking Metallica then you get in with your 9 month old daughter! iPod functionality is horrible. If you try to fast forward more than 1 song it can freeze for an indefinite period of time If you want to hear a different album from the same artist you're listening to you have to start all over with the look up. This is very clunky especially if you have a lot of artists on your iPod It's painfully slow to turn off. You have to hold the button for 10 seconds to shut it off. It's impossible for someone unfamiliar with the radio to figure out how to turn it off. The radio CD or some other input has to be on for the GPS to be on. No clock display unless the the radio or some other input is on. The clock is tiny. I have 20/20 vision and have trouble seeing it in my F350. I can see the time easier on my cell phone. In radio mode you have to change screens to switch between preset channels and search very clunky and time consuming. I get a lot of complaints about the hands free Bluetooth microphone. I just use my jawbone Bluetooth headset instead.Pros Great sound quality Excellent display I haven't had any reliability issuesI have not updated the software since purchasing it so I'm not sure if any of my issues have been addressed.
