A stereo that does everything but nothing very well. Down to one star for crashing TWICE with the v1.5 firmware with my friends in the truck. I returned it to the store..I've had this unit for 8 weeks and I'm going to continue looking for something else. It had the potential to be an outstanding product but Parrot isn't getting behind their product. There seems to be only 1 or 2 developers fixing bugs and they aren't rushing anything. Parrot rarely participates in their own forums and complaints go basically ignored. Dozens of feature requests have been acknowledged but only a few implemented with the latest software update in which it's been 4 months since the last one.The Apps are a gimmick and don't do much. It seems Parrot only has several developers willing to create apps for it but they voiced their disappointment that this unit uses a very outdated version of Android and Parrot has no intention of updating it.Basically I feel like I paid to continually beta test a product. That said everything on this unit actually works as advertised until it locks up or suddenly reboots for no reason other than just listening to the radio.Don't take my word for it go visit the forums on their web site.
Nice radio decent price but has issues. I have an older Mercedes that needed an update to the radio. This radio fit the opening perfectly looks great and fits the style of the car as well as can be expected with none of the kaleidoscope of colors you normally see on an aftermarket unit. Plug fit the connector on my car perfectly with no mods and no adapters other than for the antenna. As far as the functions it works as advertised although with some issues. Radio works great sounds great love all the inputs and preouts for subs and amps. Basically anything you got you can connect to this. The phone part works with my iphone very well. Sound is clear on both ends and voice activation gets it right 9 times out of ten. Bluetooth audio works also but sometimes forgets what song you were on and just picks a random one to play. Plugging phone into ipod cable disables bluetooth audio. Cant tether phone to radio without buying a tethering plan for your phone. This may change with updates. Without a tethering plan it makes all the apps worthless so dont buy this radio based on the apps because you wont use them. If they ever get a GPS app that doesnt require internet access that would make this radio a 5 star IMO. Also the radio has a thirty second boot process.
A great product ! HelloI purchased the Parrot Asteroid recently and have been relatively happy with this product.However the setup and configuration was not so easy.. Trying to connect the 3G was a bitcomplicated however once it has been configured it worked with no problem and connectsin bluetooth instantly when I start up my car.
This product is loaded with bugs Dont waste your money. This is a piece of junk and after 2 months has been nothing but a headache. Parrot writes EVERY good review for this thing on amazon. They even ban you on their forums if you write negative things about the Asteroid on it.
Could be better but so far the best for he price It's great to see a different approach! Definitively it has the problems of being an early adopter on new technology. Sometimes the radio hangs and comes back after a while after a reset with a loud pop. My first reaction was trying to push the radio to the limits and it felt kind of limited.
Love Asteroid not happy with Amazon The Asteroid is awesome and should get much better with updates. sound quality is excellent and its very cool to be able to use all of the various sources though I've put all my music on an SD card. Amazon sent me a British Asteroid here in the US! I'm not happy about that as all of the apps are European.

Never been so disappointed in a product After waiting two months to finally get this radio I was really disappointed. I am not exaggerating when I say that I have had to reset the Parrot about 200 times in the last three months. I'm on my second unit and in both whenever I used the cable to hook it up to my ipod it would disconnect anywhere between 210minutes every time and this is even after I changed the cable three times. Even the pocket pcs' from 2003 didn't need this many resets! Out of the 56 apps that are in there only maybe one is worth using and that's if you get lucky and are able to set up the internet connection from your phone.Even when you have to reset it takes forever. Half the time driving for me is trying to reconnect my iPhone with the Parrot. I feel bad recommending the Parrot to my friend the first day I received it. Now I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. It's unbelievable that this company made a prototype early 2011 and still haven't come up with any new apps. Do not buy this Parrot $50 in dash receivers work better than this junk.
Dont Believe the Hype Pros great phone features good call quality on both ends phonebook download and voice commands work well.Cons Long boot time useless apps for internet connectivity iPhone works out of the box but android phones dont even though the thing is running android! NO NAVIGATION I REPEAT NO NAVIGATION FUNCTIONALITY. After spending more money than you usually would on a head unit the company tries to upsell you with their app subscriptions. Takes longer to adjust audio controls than any other head unit I have ever used ever. Linein cord supplied is thin and has poor shielding. The unit wont automatically play when its turned on you have to press a button every time.I am sad to say I regret my purchase. The concept sold me but the results leave much to be desired.
Test test test I've had Parrot handsfree before and the products that aren't stereos are very good. Parrot just wasn't meant to put out car stereos. They had an RK8200 that bombed and now I've read many comments about how buggy the Asteroid can be. Did Parrot TEST this thing before releasing ? Yes I know the sooner you release the sooner you make money. But come on Parrot if you put out buggy stuff in a rush it'll come back to bite you.
